The biggest selling point of non-randomised studies is their generalisability. This is why they are sometimes referred to as “Real World Evidence”. This is a subtly derogatory term for randomised controlled trials, implying that the present evidence is not generalisable because it is generated in tightly controlled experiments and presumably comes from another planet.
