There is a striking negative correlation between virtue signaling and quality of politicians as it seems. They want to be seen doing something addressing the fears they spread. Squandering taxpayers money is the least worry

I had proper flu back in the sixties and nearly died. Many did die. I can assure you proper flu is not something invented by politicians and should be avoided. In recent years people tend to pass off any bout of sniffles and a slight uplift in body temperature as "flu" - it isn't!

welcome Chris

I see you are another of the keyboard warriors with your own Substack https://castrophel.substack.com/

writer's block for the last six months since you created it; don't be anxious; it will all start flowing shortly; great to hear from you

you must be over 80? and no more bad flu since then: that is great; all best wishes for further longevity

Expand full comment

Not sure how I ended up with my own Substack but rest easy I have no intention of pontificating with it. And no I am not over 80 - I was a very fit young man when I caught the flu - fortunately.

sorry to hear you won't be posting on Substack; must be some way you can delete the entry if you wish;

when you said

"I had proper flu back in the sixties " that suggested the 1960s; but perhaps it didn't; glad to hear you are well and good; excellent; now all we have to do is get you to read Carl's piece about how there is no evidence that flu jabs appear to be helpful; and then all would be good; (Carl knows quite a bit about this stuff we all here think).

Expand full comment

I did read Carl's post and I trust his opinion.. I noticed today that the surgery was not swabbing my skin before jabbing - also not for my Corona jab a couple of weeks ago. I read a Coroner's report that someone probably died because of this practice - again this way of working has been adopted presumably for speed and cost optimisation without a shred of evidence that it is safe. The nurse today said she would clean the spot if it look dirty - you cannot make this up!

Expand full comment

sorry to hear they were not swabbing at all Chris; you might need to bring your own alcohol for future jabs; gin or vodka would do well

Had to swipe right again today as yet another text landed offering me the flu and Covid jabs..It’s relentless

Me too.

I actually went into the surgery a couple of weeks ago and told the receptionist to please not send me any more "invitations"

Got one yesterday. I will be going in again today.

Caroline " talk to them" didn't think I'd hear that again!

The only time they talk to me is trying it on with the F+C jabs. Still it's nice to be wanted.

Don't you have email with your surgery?

I do, but I like to go and talk to them. I have a prescription to collect, anyway.

You can opt out by replying STOP to the number given at the end of the text. Costs 20p but what price peace and quiet? Or do what my hubs does - block the number and report it as spam....

Unfortunately, how many government public health advisors, members of the MHRA, former CMOs, current ones and indeed politicians would have to stand up and be counted to admit that not only were they wrong but that many of them deliberately cherry picked data to support the 'flu' vaccine programmes?

They,I believe, would have to save face somehow and I really can't see how this can be achieved, to the satisfaction of those guilty parties.

I think that the campaign to discredit and indeed label you as f***wits etc, as well as the ruination of the reputation of the Cochrane collaboration during the recent "emperor's new clothes-emic", is probably a continuation of a process of a smokescreen to protect the wealthy manufacturers who profit from all this.

So, we who are thankful for your efforts and wish to support your legacy - salute you and commend your endurance!! Nil carborundum!!!

Indeed, it seems the function of government is to funnel our taxes to their paymasters.

These articles have been invaluable and have helped with my decisions on vaccines. I am 72 and try to stay fit and keep strength by regular weight training and walking and I still work. During the 'pandemic', I was a victim of emotional blackmail due to my daughter being pregnant with her first and took the Covid thing and one booster, but no more after that. I have not, much against my GP's advice (and relentless texts), taken any vaccines of any kind for three years. This year, for the first time, the wonderful little people I work with at school shared some sort of nasty thing and I came down with something resembling a roaring great cold, but still was able to go to work - hopefully to return the favour to the kids! :-). However, I worked throught it and am glad and feel I have done the right thing in avoiding the vaccines. I'm sure I won't avoid a telling off by my GP if I can ever get to see her. But these articles have been wonderful and informative. Thank you.

Absolutely, you cannot underestimate the value of logical, well researched evidence in helping inform those interested in the efficacy of what they are being coerced into taking. Knowledge is power! Hopefully you can educate your daughter….and grandchild what is at stake.

well done John; all a big harma scam

Role reversal for me. I was always telling Dad that perhaps he didn’t need yet another booster. He had a terrible reaction to the final one. He was the type to never question a summons or command from the GP though. ‘’They’ve sent me a letter so I need to go!’’

Good Lord - there's actually one overview which states that doing nothing is more cost-effective than jabbing everything which moves against the dreaded F? Never mind - let's overlook that and go to the mind-blowing conclusion in that other study (Carman), that the "vaccine was effective even in the absence of influenza circulation". Seriously? That reminds me of the man found throwing paper confetti round his house who said, when asked why he did that, that it keeps tigers away. Told that there were no tigers around, he said: 'see - it works' ... When 'magical thinking' gets into medical research it's time to run for the hills.

Moreover, reading this: "whether there was a methods chapter explaining how the bigwigs reached their conclusions", I assume that there were no methods chapters. This is a huge sin against Science because a scientist, reading a research paper, must be able to replicate the experiment and by extension must be able to check the way literature was identified and utilised in a Review paper, to see if they come to the same conclusion.

Note well: everything which says "Science -follow it" on the label does not contain Science, God help us.

Is there something I can print off about the uselessness of the F vax, that is not too long, that I can show to various people ? I've seen some useful paragraphs in various posts, maybe i should cobble something together myself.

See this recent article promoting flu shots for children: More young children need flu shots, The Medical Republic, 24 October 2024: https://www.medicalrepublic.com.au/more-young-children-need-flu-shots/111917

QUOTE

Just over a quarter of children under five were vaccinated against influenza this year, according to a large survey by the Immunisation Coalition, which is calling on GPs and government to be even more proactive in recommending the shots to parents.

END OF QUOTE

The Immunisation Coalition is a lobby group which is funded and supported by the likes of CSL Seqirus, Pfizer, moderna, GSK, Sanofi, MSD, novavax etc: https://www.immunisationcoalition.org.au/about-us/

The article concludes:

QUOTE

Twenty-nine percent said they had been exposed to vaccine misinformation – e.g. the vaccine is not or not very effective, it can give children the flu, healthy children don’t need it – and 36% said it had influenced their decision whether to vaccinate. About half said the misinformation had come via social media; all other online sources accounted for 18% while only 4% cited mainstream media.

Explicitly anti-vaxxer sentiments included that it was natural for children to get the flu and less harmful than the vaccine, that it weakens’ children’s immune systems, and that it can cause autism. Only 26% of respondents said they had been exposed to such sentiments, with the highest rate of 30% in WA.

A quarter of the parents said anti-vaxxer sentiments had influenced their decision.

END OF QUOTE

The article does not disclose the Immunisation Coalition's conflicts of interest, i.e. that it is funded by flu vaccine manufacturers.

The Immunisation Coalition also provides 'continuing education' to GPs, see: The vaccine industry sponsors vaccination education for doctors... Yes, really... perhaps a bit off-topic; but as we are talking about "viruses" here;

Sasha Latypova has just posted a new piece; https://sashalatypova.substack.com/p/dogma-or-why-it-is-not-possible-to

discussing why it is not possible to "make" what are termed "viruses": I hope some would join me in saying it is most interesting;

there are two folks I am aware of on substack who have strong pharmaceutical backgrounds: Sasha and then Hedley Rees, from Wales I believe; https://hedleyrees.substack.com/p/dr-mike-yeadons-comment-in-inside

both have spent many years in manufacturing; and appear to have deep understanding; and can point out many truths to us; and tell us when we are being fed porkies;

I expect it’s a case of CYA. If someone dies of the sniffles after having the flu jab, well that’s just bad luck.

If you die of the sniffles and your GP didn’t offer you a flu jab, he will feel as though he didn’t do his best, the local practitioner committee (if such a body exists) will look at him over their specs, the family might sue, yada yada.

Blame the lawyers.

the problem is so few medical administrators (ie none?) could be able to patiently read what you write; and follow through;

eg Catherine Catherwood is a news item again; she was CMO Scotland and in April 2020 https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/13765665/health-officials-calderwood-covid-whatsapp-lockdown/ she was caught twice by the Scottish police breaking her own rules, visiting her holiday home whilst doing TV appearances lecturing others to "stay at home": well done that lady

she was an obstetrician; no background at all in the spurious sciences of virology and epidemiology and pubic health;

Patrick Vallance; taught physiology to medical students 1986-95 it seems; then made professor in the medical school; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Vallance then on to R&D at GSK; remarkable in-depth training for CMO too

Good question.

I take the flu jab every year and, fingers crossed, have had no flu like symptoms. People around me who avoid the jab tend to get sick every year for a few days. Is this evidence? Of course not. However, I will be getting my jab tomorrow between 5 and 6 and do not expect any side effects. I'll keep you posted :)

I would say the opposite Chris;

I have never had one of these flu jabs; and never got an F word illness

my wife to the contrary, regularly had an F jab; and regularly fell ill with the F word:

is that a draw?

I have a new product in development Chris; that you may be interested in; it is called a flu horn; I have been very impressed how tiger horns have been proven to be very effective on safaris in East Africa at keeping tigers away; so I am working on a flu horn, on the same lines; I am hoping to get endorsements from senior scientific figures like Sir Patrick Vallance; and perhaps even Lady Hallett herself.

Quite simple: you blow it once daily in the morning during winter; and bd (morning and evening if you feel unwell); early observational trials show it to be very effective at keeping the F word away; would you be interested?

Same. I was badgered into it by the GP b4 The Unpleasantness, as I have asthma and every winter, would get a dose of summat deeply unpleasant. However since 2020 I've not had a single jab and I've not been unwell either. Neither have my kids and hubs.

well done Toffeepud;

. but oh dear; sounds like I won't be able to sell you the F horn; that's a shame; I was going to offer a real-cut price deal of only 575 pounds each for the first 100 customers; or 525 pounds if you bought two or more ...
