Lovely comments folks. If the two old geezers were asked to inspect UKHSA, an impossible occurrence, I would go round every office and ask 2 questions to each of the staff.
1. What’s your job?
2 Show me evidence that your work has benefited UK plc.
Non answers or evasion would result in the member of staff being awarded the Order of Boot ASAP.
Oh dear: "The PAC reported, ‘UKHSA’s accounts have been unable to be properly audited for two years in a row—a very rare occurrence for a public body—which is deeply concerning.’" - Yes, it is more than just 'deeply concerning', it's a proper scandal. However, it's not 'a very rare occurrence' - this is the modus operandi in Brussels where accounts haven't been properly audited for decades. Seems our civil servants have learned well from the masters ...
I have an idea. Give the 2 old geezers a fat salary to audit and appraise the UKHSA and then abolish it. Employ the said old geezers to do the same job on an ongoing basis.
They can make their own fancy title up with a long acronym for important people.
I may be available as the office boy if the money’s decent.
But...but....how would we know what to do when the weather soars to a freakishly hot 20°? Or when it's just below zero? How would we ever, ever know without the ExpertsTM to tell us what to do??? 🤪
UKHSA has operational autonomy. It operates transparently and proactively and provides government (including ministers directly), local government, the NHS, Parliament and MPs, industry, public health professionals and the public with expert, evidence-based information and policy advice on health security matters. Framework Document 3.16
thanks very much; the wickedness seems much more in the open; openly flaunted; all seemingly colluding in the malfeasance; all overtly tolerated; even Sir Humphrey would have squirmed a little at it all
it all seems like the hospital in "Yes, Minister": with no patients but running superbly and within budget; but the UK_HSA just seems like a gigantic vacuum cleaner; vacuuming up huge sums of cash .

Best, Tom.
Science fiction eh?
It’s time for another bonfire of the quangos. We need to take the Javier Milei approach.

We definitely do - or at least a Milei-for-the DHSC where lots and lots of 'entities' need to go 'afuera!'
Excellent - well worth the watch - its the same story everywhere.
Abolish and see if it makes a jot of difference?

I can run the tea trolley and make a profit.
This is a scandalous waste of money, opaque quango. Well done guys for drawing attention to this.
Keep shining your light into these dark corners. Truly illuminating work.
If the UKHSA was “disappeared”, apart from saving billions would it make a blind bit of difference? I think not.
