Gwen and John made the connection I made reviewing the studies. Thinking back to the spring of 2020 there was a crescendo of threatening messages from all quarters, so it is hardly surprising if stress levels went up in a short space of time. They also stayed up for at least 18 months. Add to this the inappropriate use and reporting of PCR results and the very high risk of contamination and we have an evidence based explanation of the origins of the madness. I cannot say whether all this stuff was deliberate or not. Personally I do not believe in plots, I am a believer in stupidity, superstition, greed, ignorance and malice. Frankly, Tedros, Fauci, Hancock, Italy’s Minister Speranza and friends would have to have been aware of Sheldon Cohen’s work and that to me is science fiction.

Was covid just another ILI projected into a deadly pandemic via fear. I struggle to think of anything more stressful than truly believing that you could very probably die because of a new and novel virus. We've all seen too many deadly virus wipes out mankind movies.
Unsurprisingly most would believe the incessant MSM propaganda backed up by virtually all experts (those with dissenting views being rapidly disappeared).
Test, test, test courtesy of the Drosten/Chinese PCR test and voila - we have a pandemic.
"Although stress has been known to increase the susceptibility of pathogenic infection, the underlying mechanism remains elusive". In other words, no one has got a bloody clue. I've lost count of how many times I've read phrases such as this and "the mechanism behind this is not fully understood" when struggling through books on immunology and virology.
I wonder to what extent if at all Ferguson Edmunds etc factored fear into their models at the outset and also the effect of the resultant fear which the models would cause.
The riddle of transmission is utterly fascinating. Much more research needed.
No money in it though, and besides the results may raise uncomfortable questions regarding Germ Theory.
It is good to have it confirmed but I thought a lot of older people sort of know that a stressed person picks up more bugs. My daughter is highly stressed and often rundown and probably has a couple of colds per year and often used to get tonsillitis. She's 44 and runs her own business. My 26 Yr old grandson has cold sores several times a year stressed and rundown too.
I've 'known ' for years cold sores are caused when run down/stressed.
From the abstract, "Although severe acute stressful life events (less than 1 month long) were not associated with developing colds, severe chronic stressors (1 month or longer) were associated with a substantial increase in risk of disease. This relation was attributable primarily to under- or unemployment and to enduring interpersonal difficulties with family or friends. "
A one month delay would suggest a decreased immune response. There was plenty of "under- or unemployment" during prolonged lockdowns. Has any study looked at 'essential' v 'non-essential' v 'work at home' versus 'schooling at home' variables re SARS-CoV-2?
My only conundrum is what is stress(ful) to one person is a nothing burger to another. Some people are hardy others are psychological orchids. Job loss, divorce, death of close loved one are obvious stressors but I imagine the numbers of ILI in these studies associating with stress were not all related to big life stressors. Bottom line, no matter how you slice and dice, stress takes it’s toll on the body.
I asked ChatGPT : "What should people do inside a building during an earthquake or fire?". As usual it quickly wrote a lot of operations and ended it like this: "In both situations, the key is to stay as calm as possible, act quickly, and follow established safety protocols to minimize risks." Stay As Calm As Possible...Stay As Calm As Possible...Stay As Calm As Possible...Heartfelt thanks to the politicians, the white coats, the mass media for contributing to the 2020 victory of the SACAP Millennium Award.
All the participants were exposed to a respiratory virus squirted up their nose but only about half developed symptoms. If you were subject to long-term stress, your risk of illness was increased. So, does stress cause ILI or just make one more susceptible to developing it when exposed to a virus?
Elevated cortisol=immune suppression+inflammation = take your pick of pathogens to enjoy and savor.
Of course folks love their cortisol (ask any bi-polar) so you whip those adrenals into chronic anxiety state for awhile until your bod says enough and you develop "depression" which is the Cosmic Muffins way of telling you you can't handle any more input because your adrenals are on vacation in Guatemala so you pull the curtains and assume the fetal position. All the while you are sick from whatever.....
On our quest to be all-knowing and all-seeing we forgot we're human beings.

Best wishes, Tom.
So what better way to ensure a lot more people become stressed than to create fear porn as seen in 2020 ?

I’ve been writing about nocebo effect, an overlapping concept.
